Jakarta, 21 Agustus 2024 – Indonesian national team player, Marselino Ferdinan, has officially joined English Second Division club Oxford United. The 19-year-old player has been contracted for two years.
Marselino Ferdinan was brought to Oxford United on a free transfer after his contract at KMSK Deinze expired.
He arrived at Oxford with 26 appearances for Indonesia and three goals. Last year, he helped the Indonesian U-22 team win the SEA Games for the first time in 32 years.
Citing Capology data reveals that the highest-paid player at Oxford United is Mark Harris. The Welsh striker receives a salary of 364 thousand pounds (equivalent to Rp7.3 billion) per year. That amount does not include bonuses.
The average salary of players at Oxford United per year is claimed to be around 141,480 pounds or equivalent to Rp2.84 billion per year.
Marselino’s salary at Oxford United is likely to be in the range between the average squad salary and Harris’s highest annual salary. The reason is, although untested in the Premier League, Marselino has a plus for Oxford United, namely exposure, especially because he has a lot of followers on social media who have the potential to bring in new sponsors.
Marselino holds the record as the youngest goal scorer in Indonesia, and this year became the youngest goal scorer in the history of the Asian Cup finals. He is also a key player for the Indonesian U-23 team, which reached the semifinals of the 2024 AFC U-23 Championship and led Indonesia to the Olympic playoffs against Guinea in Paris last May.
