Six types of COVID-19 vaccines to be used in Indonesia

President Joko Widodo has made the corona virus vaccine free after receiving a lot of input from the public and calculating state finances. Therefore, all levels of the cabinet, ministries, agencies and local governments are asked to prioritize the vaccination program in the 2021 budget year. So that later there will be no more excuses for the public not to get the corona virus vaccine.

1. Bio Farma or Red and White Vaccine
This red and white vaccine is the result of collaboration between PT Bio Farma and the Eijkman Institute. PT Bio Farma also collaborates with a Chinese coronavirus vaccine company, Shinovac Biotech.

2. AstraZeneca
Trials conducted by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford show that their corona virus vaccine has an average effectiveness of 70%. Currently trials on 20,000 volunteers are still continuing. This vaccine is considered easy to distribute because it does not need to be stored at very cold temperatures.

3. China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm)
Approximately one million people in China have been injected with the Sinopharm vaccine under emergency user consent. Until it was proven entirely successful, the Sinopharm vaccine was only used on Chinese officials, students, and workers traveling abroad.

4. Moderna
The Moderna vaccine is claimed to have an effectiveness of 94.5 percent. At the end of November, Moderna applied for an emergency use permit for the COVID-19 vaccine to regulators from the United States (US) and Europe.

5. Pfizer Inc and BioNTech
The coronavirus vaccine that Pfizer and BioNTech has developed has received emergency use approval in a number of countries, including the UK and the United States. In their last trial which was on November 18, 2020, they claimed that it was 95% effective and did not pose a risk of security issues.

6. Sinovac Biotech Ltd
The vaccine made by Sinovac arrived in Indonesia on December 6, 2020. The Sinovac Biotech Ltd vaccine has 1.2 million doses of vaccine from 250 million doses. (IVD / ASA)
